Hello – My name is Jonas Thulin. I am Swedish by origin, but I have lived in Spain since May 1992 and I am now located in Altea, in the province of Alicante.
My journey in what we today call canine education began in 1984 with a Beagle named Fia. With her I participated in a puppy course by the Swedish Working Dog Club (Svenska Brukshundklubben) and I got hooked.
I enrolled in a Canine Instructor course and obtained my certificate as such in 1986. In 1988 I studied Canine Psychology at the then Swedish Dog School (Statens Hundskola), with tutors including Anders Hallgren and Roger Abrantes. And in 1989 I obtained the certificate as Teacher of Canine Instructors from the Working Dog Club.
Moving to Spain withdrew me from the world of canine education for a few years. But a little later I joined an animal protection association and little by little I got back into the game. After a while I came to the conclusion that I should dedicate myself to it professionally. From that moment I went to look for updated training to catch up and after a period of recycling I launched myself. I am a firm believer that training and education is essential and I am participating in seminars and courses continuously.
Now I am advising dog carers and tutors on canine emotional health and canine behavior through seminars and webinars. I am also making personal home visits and group socialization. As well as giving classes and face-to-face talks in Spain.
Online, I give consultations or talks, all over the world.
I am the producer and host of the spanish podcast Pongamos que Hablo de Perros and founding member and president of ANPECEC (a spanish association of canine professionals).
I am following the ANPECEC Code of Ethics (CEPA) and the MIME working protocol.
